A Local's Guide on Things to Do in Lake Mary

Located in the Greater Orlando metropolitan area, Lake Mary is a charming family suburb with about 17,000 residents, about 40 percent of which have children living at home. Lake Mary is a fairly affluent area with a median household income of just under $95,000, compared to the national average of $69,717.

Many Central Florida visitors will be familiar with Disney World, Universal Studios, and the Kennedy Center, but there are plenty of Lake Mary activities as well. After seeing all there is to do in this active city, we know you’ll fall in love with it. When you do, contact the Reeley Group to make Lake Mary your next home.

Family-Friendly Activities in Lake Mary

With a large portion of families living in Lake Mary, that are several great family-friendly activities in Lake Mary.

Lake Mary Museum

To teach your children about local history pre-dating the civil war, visit the Lake Mary Museum. In addition to centuries-old exhibits, the museum also features modern work from local artists as well as events for residents to enjoy.

Trailblazer Park

Part of the Lake Mary Sports Complex (more on that below), the Trailblazer Park is perfect for a warm Florida afternoon. This park features splash pads in addition to play structures, walking trails, and shaded picnic areas.

Planet Obstacle

For an indoor activity that will still burn off all of your kids’ plentiful energy, visit Planet Obstacle. As the World’s largest indoor obstacle course, this gym has 50,000 square feet of structures and activities for kids to climb on, over, and jump off of.

Universal CityWalk

Not to be confused with Universal Studios, Universal CityWalk has something for everyone. We’ve included it in the family-friendly section, but there are plenty of adult-only options in this area as well. It really has everything, including shopping, live entertainment, restaurants, bars, a movie theater, and even mini golf.

Lake Mary Heathrow Festival of the Arts

For an annual activity that will have the whole family entertained, visit the Lake Mary Heathrow Festival of the Arts hosted at Oval Park. With around 150 vendors every year, this festival features artists, of course as well as live music, food and drink, and plenty of activity.

Lake Mary Restaurants

Graffiti Junkiton

A local classic, Lake Mary residents love Graffiti Junktion for its simple yet funky vibe and delicious burgers. Bring the whole family, or make it an adults-only night out and enjoy one of their many cocktails.

Pierre’s Wine Cellar

Come to Pierre’s to try a few of their more than 200 wines sourced from a dozen countries. Maybe you aren’t a wine connoisseur yet, but Perre’s knowledgeable staff will have you leaving as a budding wine expert.

FishBones

As the name suggests, FishBones is the place to go for memorable seafood. Guests love their Chilean Sea Bass and oysters, along with sushi and great service.

Outdoor Activities in Lake Mary

Central Florida is known to be a picturesque and pleasant region. Lake Mary is no different, with tons of parks and outdoor activities for all to enjoy.

Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park

Spanning both Seminole and Lake Counties, visit Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park to take in the best of Central Florida’s scenery. With both Wekiva and St. John Rivers running through, visitors can enjoy fishing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, or stay on land for a hike or mountain bike ride.

Timacuan Golf Club

This wouldn’t be a Florida activity guide without a golf course recommendation. Timacuan is an 18-hole, par 72 course that is a favorite of Central Florida’s best golfers.

Lake Mary Top Golf

For the non-traditional golfer, try out Top Golf. In addition to bays set up with tees to test your golf swing, top golf also features a bar and restaurant.

Liberty Park

Situated along Crystal Lake, Liberty Park features classic Florida landscapes like dense forest and swampy lake shores, perfect for fishing or bird watching. The rest of the park also features a disc golf course, sports fields, and walking trails.

Lake Mary Sports Complex

The Lake Mary Sports Complex has a facility for nearly any sport. There are basketball and tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, and even a skatepark.

Greenwood Lakes Park

Another great sports-rich park in the area is the 14-acre Greenwood Lakes Park. This park also includes tennis courts, as well as a roller hockey rink, a fitness trail, and two playgrounds for younger children.

Oval Park

For a more serene and less sporty park, try Oval Park. Instead of several sports fields and complexes, this part is beautifully landscaped with tranquil tree-lined walking paths.

Lake Mary Shopping

If your idea of physical activity is shopping, Lake Mary has you covered there too.

Lake Mary Farmers Market

Every Saturday morning, local farmers and all kinds of businesses come together in the downtown area for a farmer's market. Bring the whole family and do your shopping for the week or just pick up a delicious local treat.

Lake Mary Centre

Lake Mary Centre has more than 50 stores to help you find nearly anything on your list. In addition, the shopping center also has several restaurants and entertainment venues.

Conclusion

As you can see, there is a ton to do in Lake Mary. With family-friendly museums, parks, gyms, and festivals, in addition to more parks, golf courses, great restaurants, and shopping, there are more than enough Lake Mary activities to keep you busy. But even if you do feel like venturing out of town, Lake Mary is conveniently located within a quick drive to the ocean or Orlando.
